Piranha 3DD (2012) is a horror-comedy sequel to Piranha 3D (2010), directed by John Gulager. The film shifts the terror from a lake to a water park, where prehistoric, flesh-eating piranhas infiltrate the attractions. Maddy, the park’s co-owner, returns home to find that her stepfather, Chet, has turned the facility into a risqué adult-themed water park. As the grand opening approaches, the vicious piranhas make their way through the plumbing system, creating a blood-soaked massacre. With the help of her friends, including marine biologist Kyle and ex-boyfriend Barry, Maddy fights to save the guests from the relentless aquatic predators.
Unlike its predecessor, Piranha 3DD leans more into campy humor and over-the-top horror, featuring outrageous kills and self-aware absurdity. The film includes cameos from David Hasselhoff and Ving Rhames, adding to its tongue-in-cheek tone. While it lacks the critical acclaim of its predecessor, it delivers gory thrills and unapologetic, exploitative fun for fans of B-movie horror.
