Daaku Maharaaj (2025)

Summary:

Daaku Maharaaj” (2025) is a Telugu-language action drama directed by Bobby Kolli, featuring Nandamuri Balakrishna in a compelling dual role. The narrative unfolds in 1996, focusing on Krishnamurthy (Sachin Khedekar), a philanthropist in Madanapalle, Chittoor district, who confronts MLA Trimurthulu Naidu (Ravi Kishan) over illegal activities on his tea estate. To protect his family, Krishnamurthy hires Nanaji (Balakrishna), unaware that he is the notorious dacoit, Daaku Maharaaj, on the run from authorities. Nanaji forms a bond with Krishnamurthy’s granddaughter, Vaishnavi, while shielding the family from threats. The plot delves into Nanaji’s past as Sitaram, an irrigation engineer who becomes Daaku Maharaaj to combat the oppression of Balwant Singh Thakur (Bobby Deol) in the Chambal region. The film intertwines themes of justice, redemption, and familial bonds, supported by Thaman S’s dynamic score and Vijay Kartik Kannan’s striking cinematography. While the first half is lauded for its engaging storytelling and action sequences, the second half faces criticism for predictability and pacing issues. Nonetheless, Balakrishna’s powerful performance and the film’s emotional depth offer an engaging experience for audiences.
